Rush Limbaugh Insults the Wrong Religion

Rush Limbaugh is living proof that stupid people can still make it in America.  Recently Rush likened the NYC Islamic center to building a Hindu Temple next to Pearl Harbor.  Flash for Rush: Hindus are from India.  Maybe you missed it in history class Rush, but it was the Japanese who attacked Pearl Harbor.  Japanese are mainly Shinto or Buddhist.  If you're going to insult a religion, at least you should get the right one.

Of  course maybe my expectations are a little high for a drug addict who makes 33 million a year doing hate radio.   My father use to say that no man was totally worthless, he could always serve as a bad example.  Good job Rush.

  2. i remember how, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, hindu temples were vandalized. is there a name for that? maybe meta-bigotry?

  4. I am consistently surprised by how the things Rush Limbaugh says are. What nation Hinduism is native to, or what religions are native to Japan, those are both understandable things not to know. But to think Hinduism is native to Japan just demonstrates willful ignorance.

And is it just me, or is the idea of building some manner of Shinto shrine near Pearl Harbor actually seem to put the Mosque situation in a better light?

  5. Forgive a little correction, but most Japanese are both Buddhist and Shinto. Most marry at a Shinto shrine and have funerals at a Buddhist temple.

  6. Pretty much. Rush Limbaugh cocks it up? Well, not like his listeners know the difference. Honestly, it's better he lies. If he said Shinto, most people on the other end would be wondering what part of their legs have to do with 9/11.

  8. Yes, I think your expectations were a bit high. We should not be surprised. But it's nonetheless amusing and worth writing about.

  9. There is, in fact, a huge Shinto shrine right next to Hickam AFB which was bombed on December 7th, 1941. This makes sense since there are LOTS of Japanese living in Hawaii.

And as a side note, how would your family feel about adopting a hygienic, polite, housebroken 24 year old male? *Grin*
