Hypocrisy In Action

Christine Judd use to be the Athletic Director and Dean of Students at Cathedral High School in Springfield Massachusetts.  I say use to, because she was forced to resign her position because she did the unthinkable.  She married the person she loved.

Christine is a lesbian.  Even though she gave 12 years of loyal service to Cathedral High School, and she did nothing illegal, the Springfield diocese decided her conduct contravenes the doctrine and teaching of the Catholic Church.  The same diocese allows teachers to divorce and remarry with out an annulment.  Allows teachers to openly be pro-choice.  Or allows women to use birth control and men to have vasectomies.  But, marring the one you love is just too much.

This is the same Catholic Church that knew about pedophile priests and just moved them from dioceses to dioceses.  Hypocrisy's is an ugly thing.  I am sure God is proud.

  1. I'm sure it was all well and good while she was 'hiding' it, too

  2. Even in a private institution, like a catholic school, isn't it still against the law to fire someone based on their sexual orientation?

I know we're getting into murky water dealing with religion, but since they seem to have no issue going against other very "important" tenants of catholic doctrine, why are they able to use this one?

  3. It's a double shot of hypocracy since the official stance of the Catholic church is that being Gay is perfectly acceptable (It's just a calling to celebecy) but if one acts upon their homosexuality then it is directly equivocal to someone who masterbates. (Because the official stance is, sex is for babies and marriage is for sex so any type of sexual pleasure outside of marriage and not making babies is wrong.)
However officially the Church is called to encourage homosexuals to be a part of their congregation and to be open about their sexuality.
So firing her for being Gay... "Do as I do, not what I say"

  5. As a recovering catholic I am still offended by the church's actions. As a rational human it really ticks me of that these people keep inflicting their delusions on millions around the world. It's BS like this that led me to start thinking and leave.

Makes me proud to be an atheist, instead of a supporter of evil

  6. Monolithic "Catholics" aren't responsible for local decisions. Your antipapism is showing. If "Catholics" are to blame here, then which of the following are to blame for the Holocaust:

    "Lutherans"
    "Odin's Followers"
    "Wagner fans"
    "Darwinists"
    "Eugenecists"
    "Geneticists"
    "Secular Humanists"
    "Atheists"

Broad brushes don't help, King. (Except with Nazis. Everybody can agree to hate Nazis...)
Bigotry doesn't care about the religious or nonreligious beliefs of the perpetrator.

  7. Crap like this makes me hope I'm wrong about there not being a god. Because if there is a god, I hope to be a fly on the wall when all of Its followers get a good stern talking to in the (probably non-existent) afterlife.
